Southern Ham And Cheese Biscuits

A southern approach to our ham sliders recipe.
We used homemade biscuits instead of rolls and
EZ Carve Smoked and Peppered Ham instead of shaved ham.


INGREDIENTS


BISCUITS
2 cups self-rising flour
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon sugar
3 tablespoons shortening
½ cup buttermilk
½ cup whole milk
1 tablespoon butter



FILLING
4 slices Petit Jean EZ Carve Sliced Smoked Ham
4 slices Petit Jean EZ Carve Sliced Peppered Ham
12 sliced cheddar cheese
½ stick butter
3 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons mustard
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce


INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 475 degrees.

  2. Mix dry ingredients and cut in shortening and butter.

  3. Slowly stir in both milks and water.

  4. Pour dough onto a lightly floured service and work into a ½ inch thick round disc.

  5. Cut into 2-2½ in size.

  6. Place into hot oven and bake for 10-12 minutes.

  7. Make filling mixture using melted butter, brown sugar, mustard and Worcestershire sauce.

  8. Split biscuits and spread with the mustard mixture on top and bottom of biscuit.

  9. Cut ham into 2 in pieces and place on biscuit.

  10. Split cheese into fourths and place cheese on top of ham.
