INGREDIENTS
2 Pie Crusts
Apple Pie Filling of choice
(Feel free to use homemade pie crust or/and filling.
Because this was cooked outside, we took the easy route.)
INSTRUCTIONS
1.) Chop up Bacon and cook until done, but not crispy.
2.) Pat dry with a paper towel to remove grease.
3.) Place half of the bacon pieces in pie crust.
4.) Layer the apple filling on top of the bacon.
5.) Add the rest of the bacon on top of apple filling.
6.) Turn the 2nd pie crust upside down and place on top.
7.) Cut slits in the top.
8.) Place in a 12 inch Dutch Oven.
9.) Place 9 hot coals under pot and 12 hot coals on top. (This will give you a temp of 350 degrees.) Rotate lid ¼ turn clockwise and pot ¼ turn counter-clockwise every 15 minutes.
10.) After about 45 minutes, check pie .
11.) Continue to cook until crust is golden brown.
12.) This can also be cooked in your regular oven at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
