Author: Debbie Dance Uhrig | The Covered Dish

INGREDIENTS

(2) 9x13 baking pans
Vegetable Spray
1½ pounds deli shaved Petit Jean Ham
12 slices cheddar cheese
24 Silver Dollar Rolls or 12 large buns (we used 24 Kings Hawaiian Savory Butter Rolls)
Filling
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon flour
8 tablespoons pineapple-apricot jam (we used preserves)
Topping
1 stick butter
4 tablespoons brown sugar
4 teaspoons mustard
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Poppy Seeds

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Begin with filling. Melt butter and stir flour into the mixture then add jam and blend well.

  2. Spray each 9x13 pan with vegetable spray.

  3. Cut rolls in half.

  4. On one side only, place ½ teaspoon of the filling. Spread.

  5. Lay half slice cheese and a nice amount of ham on each sandwich.(At this stage, it is possible to cover the sandwiches tightly and refrigerate.)

  6. Just before baking, prepare the topping.

  7. Melt butter and stir in brown sugar, mustard and Worcestershire sauce.

  8. Using a pastry brush, coat the top of each roll.

  9. Sprinkle poppy seeds across top of rolls.

  10. Bake in oven for 20-25 minutes.
