Bacon-infused Old Fashioned

BACON-INFUSED OLD FASHIONED

INGREDIENTS - 2 drinks

4 oz. Bacon-Infused Bourbon
2 oz. Orange-Brown Sugar Simple Syrup
4 dashes Angostura Bitters
2 strips of crispy Petit Jean Bacon, for garnish
Orange Peel Twist, for garnish
Ice


INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Add some ice, Bacon-infused Bourbon, Orange-Brown Sugar Simple Syrup and Angostura Bitters to a cocktail shaker.

  2. Stir to combine (do not shake). Let rest for 60 seconds.

  3. Strain into a frozen low-ball glass with a large ice cube (or a few ice cubes).

  4. Garnish with a slice of crispy bacon and an orange peel twist.

Instructions for the Bacon-Infused Bourbon:

  1. Cook 5 strips of Petit Jean bacon until crispy.

  2. Pour 4 oz. of Bourbon in a tall mason jar and add 3 of the bacon strips to the liquid.

  3. Reserve the final 2 strips of cooked bacon for garnish.

  4. Allow to “marinate” for at least 30 minutes at room temperature.

  5. Strain through a fine mesh strainer to capture the bacon fat out of the bourbon.

  6. Use as called above.

Instructions for the Orange-Brown Sugar Simple Syrup:

  1. In a small saucepan over low heat, add ½ cup of water and ½ cup of dark brown sugar.

  2. Squeeze ½ of an orange into saucepan and add 2-3 large orange peels.

  3. Allow to cook until sugar has completely dissolved.

  4. Remove from heat to cool. Use as called above.
