BACON-INFUSED OLD FASHIONED

INGREDIENTS - 2 drinks
Add some ice, Bacon-infused Bourbon, Orange-Brown Sugar Simple Syrup and Angostura Bitters to a cocktail shaker.
Stir to combine (do not shake). Let rest for 60 seconds.
Strain into a frozen low-ball glass with a large ice cube (or a few ice cubes).
Garnish with a slice of crispy bacon and an orange peel twist.
Instructions for the Bacon-Infused Bourbon:
Cook 5 strips of Petit Jean bacon until crispy.
Pour 4 oz. of Bourbon in a tall mason jar and add 3 of the bacon strips to the liquid.
Reserve the final 2 strips of cooked bacon for garnish.
Allow to “marinate” for at least 30 minutes at room temperature.
Strain through a fine mesh strainer to capture the bacon fat out of the bourbon.
Use as called above.
Instructions for the Orange-Brown Sugar Simple Syrup:
In a small saucepan over low heat, add ½ cup of water and ½ cup of dark brown sugar.
Squeeze ½ of an orange into saucepan and add 2-3 large orange peels.
Allow to cook until sugar has completely dissolved.
Remove from heat to cool. Use as called above.
